What Is Important For the Boys.

I'd like to offer a very brief explanation of our basic coaching philosophy ...

First and foremost the boys need to feel that they are improving and learning something.  I'd like to say that it's all about having fun ... and certainly we have a lot of that ... but not always and that's OK.  The fact is that practice isn't ALWAYS fun and games very often aren't, especially if we're losing.

Our hope as coaches is certainly that they learn game related skills. More importantly, though, we hope they are learning life skills about diligent effort and the results that continued focus on improvement always brings.  To be honest, for me as a coach, if it's all about just having fun ... it's no longer fun.  I'd rather spend my time at Cherry Hill with my kids having fun or at Lagoon or almost a million other places having that kind of fun.  The soccer field and this team (I hope) is unique in it's ability to start to introduce some more difficult life lessons about hard work, pain and progress.

We've already seen remarkable progress just through one season, and we hope it can continue for years to come!
